Bacillus coagulans or Lactobacillus sporogenes is a gram-positive, facultative anaerobic, nonpathogenic, spore-forming, lactic acid-producing bacteria.

They secrete antibacterial substances like organic acids, hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins to inhibit pathogenic bacteria.
