Medicinal Chemist

About the Role

As Medicinal Chemist at our Hosur campus, you will design, synthesize, and characterize novel chemical compounds for our drug discovery initiatives. You will collaborate with biology, analytical, DMPK, and formulation departments to develop compounds with optimal potency, selectivity, and pharmaceutical properties.

This role suits a scientist with deep organic synthesis expertise who can translate structure-activity relationship insights into robust, scalable synthetic routes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize small molecules based on structure-activity relationship studies
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for target molecules
• Purify compounds using chromatography techniques
• Characterize compounds via NMR, LC-MS/GC-MS, HPLC, and IR spectroscopy
• Conduct literature reviews and patent searches
• Analyze biological assay results and recommend structural modifications
• Support lead optimization programs
• Maintain laboratory notebooks and ensure regulatory compliance (GLP/GMP)
• Prepare technical reports and presentations
• Identify innovative synthetic strategies

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Organic, Medicinal, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry
• 10–15 years of experience in medicinal chemistry/drug discovery
• Strong organic synthesis and reaction mechanism expertise
• Multi-step synthesis experience
• Proficiency in purification techniques and spectral data interpretation
• Knowledge of SAR and medicinal chemistry principles
• Familiarity with scientific databases (SciFinder, Reaxys, PubChem)
